Better late than never: Google is finally modernizing the interface of Google Calendar on desktop. The principles of the mobile application of Google Calendar have been transposed to the desktop version.
Use the new version of Google Calendar
The new version is being deployed. Some people can already access it by clicking “Use the new version of Google Calendar” (top right of Google Calendar). If you do not see this message, it means that your account has not yet received the update. For professionals (G Suite), administrators can activate the new version today. Without action on their part, the new Google Agenda will be effective between November 14 and 28.
What’s new in Google Calendar
Google Calendar news is mostly about the interface. More modern, it takes the codes of Material Design and presents more vivid colors. Banners are also automatically added to your events by name, such as mobile (restaurant, hairdresser, football game, dentist, etc.).
New features have been designed for professionals:
- Information about meeting rooms: Administrators can add information about meeting rooms (location, size, audio / video equipment, accessibility, etc.). Employees access this information when they choose their meeting room.
- Formatted links and text in the invitations: Users can include links to their invitations and format their text.
- View multiple calendars side by side: Finally, you can view your calendar and your colleagues calendar (for example) in parallel, in Day view. It’s very convenient, especially in business, to stall a meeting.
